Someone on my block appears to have taken the grille and front lights from a recent Ford (Raptor?) and stuck them on a much older Ford. I’m into it.

Budget Ford Raptor, for when you want the Raptor experience but want the classic look

Those years had very good diesels.

That’s not a Raptor grill, just someone fab some big letters and stuck them on a grill.

Those lights are probably Pep Boys or JC Whitney specials.

Some of the best diesels. The 7.3 is one of my all time favorite engines.

For the time period, yes. Compared to a modern engine, gas or diesel, no.

I spent too much time at work the other day looking to see if I could modify a Raptor grille for a Focus ST. Doesn’t seem like anyone has done it yet.

thats because the ‘FORD’ from the raptor grill is probably wider than the entire ST

It makes 185hp so reliably!

I was actually thinking of the 7.3 Powerstroke, but yeah the 7.3 IDI doesn’t make much power, haha.

Yeah, the proportions on the “F” are really messed up.

I mean, the 7.3 PowerJokes didn’t exactly make a ton of power either. My 6 leaker made decent power when it held together but I’m pretty sure a stock 6.0 will still stomp a tuned 7.3.

I don’t need so much power, nobody does unless you tow, I don’t. I have far less in my 1952 gas truck and it’s fine, low gears will pull a house down.

At the time I had it hooked to either a 34' toy hauler (12k-ish with water and UTV in it) or a 26' travel trailer (5500-ish with water). Also, it’s really fun to spin 35's at will from a roll. I went to a newer F-250 with the 6.2 gasser and immediately missed the extra torque.

My ‘97 had a Banks Stinger kit on it and went pretty good. My ‘01 had a tune but was otherwise stock and didn’t feel as powerful to me even though it was supposed to make more than the ‘97. The 6.0 family is a great motor too, once they’re bulletproofed.

I just got sick of fighting with the whole HUI system, the whole oiling setup was total nonsense. I considered a 6.7 to replace it but didn’t want two coolant systems and a CP4 to deal with.
